1. Make sure all debre is removed from the floor.
this could cause a hole to get into the shower pan.
2.Cement-Cement shall be portland cement type I or type lI conforming to ASTM C-150.
Your mud floor should be this Portland cement and I will show you the way to mix it and
install the mud bed on the shower floor for a smooth tile floor.
3 Sand shall be damp, clean and graded.
You should make sure that the sand has no large rocks in it , I like the play sand that comes in the
50lb bags at Lowes and Home Depot.
4 Water-Water shall be potable.
Some People make the mistake of using dirty water or even warm water , you should me sure the water is clean and try to use room temperature.
5.Reinforcing shall be 3.4 galvanized metal lath conforming to ANSI A42.3 or 2" x 2" 16/16 gauge or 3" x 3" mesh, 13 x 13 gage or 1½ x 2 mesh. 16 x 13 gage steel wire conforming to ASTM A82-34 and A185-37.
I know that's a lot of words but this Lath you can get at any of the Home Depot Stores.
6.Waterproof Membrane or the Shower Pan,
This pan is also at most of your home improvement stores,
I will show you step by step just how to install the shower pan.
7. Sloping Sub-Floor and Shower Membrane-All lining materials shall be pitched one quarter (".) inch per foot to weep holes in the sub-drain by means of a smooth and solidly formed sloping sub-base. All such lining materials shall extend upward on the side walls and rough iambs of the shower opening to a point not less than three (3) inches above the top of the finished dam or threshold and shall extend outward over the top of the rough threshold and be turned over and fastened on the outside face of both the rough threshold and the jambs.
